FAQs

  • Do caregivers participate in the class?

Absolutely! Parents are an integral part of class in the younger years. We often say that parents are “required” to participate, and the kids’ participation is “optional.” As students get older, they participate by themselves, but parents take part in the classes towards the end of each lesson. For all classes, parents are asked to include active music-making in their child's life. Sing along with the songs in the car, play echo games, makei up patterns, as we do in class.

  • May more than one caregiver come to a class?

Certainly! The more the merrier - at least most of the time. Depending on class size and lcoation, we occassionally have to limit the number of attendees, so we simply ask that you notify us if more than one grown up will be coming to sing along with your little one.

  • Can I register two of my kiddos for the same class?

If you have two or more children of ages that could participate in the same class, we’d love to have them both attend. We also offer a discounted rate for the 2nd child enrolled in the same class. Contact info@ridgewoodnjmusic.com for more details.

  • How long do classes last each week?

Classes actively run for 30 minutes. We ask that you try to arrive a few minutes early so we can start on time, and there’s usually a bit of time at the end to socialize (and occassionally an encore of a favorite song). Plan for about 45 mintues total.

  • Which class is right for my child?

“Music for Babies” is designed for the littlest kiddos from 2 months to about 16 months of age. The classes focus on creating a strong bond between the caregiver and the child through musical interaction, as well as body awareness activities.

“Music for Toddlers” works with the child’s growing independence. The grown-up is still essential to creating a positive example and sense of safety as the child begins to tryout new songs and activties on their own. There is an increased level activity for these new walkers.

“Family Music is open to all ages, including babies, but is ‘active’ than the “Babies” classes. Early and “almost” walkers find there place among the toddlers as everyone enjoys bouncing, dancing, and twirling to different songs.

Still not sure what’s right for your little one? Send us an email or give us a call (551-276-2443) and we’ll be happy to discuss the classes in more detail and determine what’s right for you.

  • What if I have to miss a week due to a schedule conflict?

If we are running another session of your class (or similar class), we are happy to have you join us at another session (space allowing). Unfortunately, we are unable to refund individual classes.
